Beach and moon
Here is my latest easel offering – one of my local beaches in pastel. After so much big brush work lately, I felt I needed to get my hands really dirty, so pastel was the obvious answer.
Unfortunately I had masking tape “issues”. I tried low tack tape first, which wasn’t up to the task. After a couple of hours, even when aided by invisible tape, it fell to the floor.
Next up was normal masking tape. It jumped ship even sooner than the low tack tape.
Off to the shops to buy really wide, heavy duty tape and all was well at last.
And did you get a chance to see the beautiful Full Moon last night?
I’m sure the neighbours across the road must think I’m spying whenever I go out the front with the long lense camera in the evening!
Underneath Tycho Crater (right hand side white spot that looks like where an orange stem would have been), is the large black “sea”, Mare Humorum (Mare = Latin for sea).

You are just amazing! This is an incredible piece, so life like. The waves and horizon perfection, darn but I feel the pull of that beach calling my name
I did see the full moon, but not from a telescope, what a treat to be able to view the heavens up close and personal.
Cindy, I’m so pleased you put this on facebook for me to find…..I’ve really enjoyed meandering through your blog……..what a lovely thing for me to do with my time……
WOOOOWWW – that is super. You watch that one be snatched up!!! Everything you create is fantastic Cindy and I can’t decide which I like best, but this is fabulous – Good for you!!!

Thanks for stopping by everyone.
Brenda, it’s still way too cold for a dip here, and the wind chill factor quick-freezes you to the bone, but it still LOOKS lovely down by the shore.
Sorry if my original post sounded like I owned a telescope – it’s only a lowly camera. Though you really only need your eyes to see how magical the heavens are.
Angela! So glad you found me. Hope all is well with you and yours over east.
Karen, thanks for your inspiring words – onwards and upwards!
Wow…I feel as though I am sitting right there at the beach…with the wind in my hair…How do you capture the reality so well..just amazing…and beautiful in every way..!
My first visit to your blogspot. Am amazed by the detail you can create in the Beach scenery with pastels! lovely painting..
I love the pastel of the beach! The composition is stiking and the colors are so vibrant! I need some of that tape, too! I’m just getting into watercolors and when I try to stretch the paper and tape it off it always falls and then I end up with wavy paper! I really need to figure out the best tape and method to use for this. Great pic of the moon by the way, at first I thought it was a pastel painting. You caught some nice details.
Thanks guys!
Sharon, you really need the wettable tape for watercolour stretching. If you need any more info, just drop me a line.
Cheers,
C
