Calligraphy Goodies old and new

Our monthly Calligraphy Guild meeting was held on Saturday, and as usual, our members brought in some fascinating “Show & Tell”.

Rescued from an outside laundry where it lay for years was this Masonic Certificate from 1935. (The Ancient Order of Foresters).

Some antique calligraphic implements – ebony, crystal & silver ink wells and very old pens.

Including this glass sand pen.

There is a Calligraphic Summer School in Winter happening in Melbourne this week. One of our members will be attending, and has created these fabulous “pins” to trade with the other calligraphers. Miniature jewels they are.

Everyone was so impressed that there’s talk that we’ll be doing these as a swap project ourselves.

Then there was the “homework”, always so inspirational to see what some of our Members can do.

Oooo, what beautiful works of art these are! I’d love to join you, but it’s a bit far for me :) I love using calligraphy with artwork like this.

This was so much fun to view, love seeing the old pens and ink wells (I love my fountain pens) and then the artworks, beautiful..

Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed browsing! I love that quote – “The quieter you become – the more you hear.”

I gave you a “Beautiful Blogger” award. Please come over to my site and paste & copy it to your blog. I understand the recipient is to turn around (within a month or so?) and select 10 blogs with a “BB” award. AND, for me the hard part, list 10 things about yourself on your blog. I hope you are honored and not annoyed with my tapping you as a blog I truly enjoy.

Please do not feel obligated to “tag” 10 other bloggers or to copy & paste the award to your site. Participate if it pleases you and know that I have you listed as one of the blogs I enjoy.

I expect you are busy but I wondered how you made out with that canvas gone wrong that you were chiseling and sanding away at ? Hope you will share the finished piece with us one day :-)
