Brewing & Stewing
Thanks to all of you for your comments, they really mean a lot to me. I have been such a slacker with posting of late - lots of “Real World” goings-on PLUS fighting for the computer = not a lot of posting.
Another soon-to-be-cyclone is brewing out in the Coral Sea. Bring on the Dry Season and soon!
I’ve been stewing on all the things I’ve got on my “To Do” list as well. I don’t physically have a written down list, just a mental note that seems to be growing by the hour! When did organising one’s life get so hard?
Still, whenever things seem to get overwhelming, a walk and sit outside brings everything back into focus. There are hundreds of butterflies around at the moment, on a manic mission to drink lots of sugar and mate. Not a bad lifestyle really.
This dusk shot of the brilliant blue Ulysses is a bit grainy, but the blue was just so intense in the evening light.
Pink pegs on the clothesline are a favourtie spot for these Eggfly butterflies, who are so often dancing duets in the air - circling round and around each other but never colliding.
I’m feeling a bit disillusioined with art at the moment. So many Galleries have closed down here in Cairns. Lots of artists have lost money and trust. The economic woes of the world has really hit hard in this tourist town - lots of businesses are really doing it tough. On a brighter note I have ben invited to “try out” for the Miniature Society - they have two judged intakes per year - the next being in April. I need to complete 6 pieces (no bigger then 10cm on the longer side) to be considered. I’ve only ever done the one miniature for the exhibition late last year.
Still not sure whether I’m up to the task - more stewing on the subject required!

Beautiful flutterbys! Yep, I guess the downturn really hits the tourism and arts sectors. But I’m sure you will wow them with your miniatures.
Will you guys just stop stealing our weather??! Every time there is a cyclone brewing in your neck of the woods or in the Kimberly our weather just gets sucked away and we are left with….. NOTHING! No weather. Here I am trying to enjoy the last gasp of the Wet and suddenly it goes missing. Mind you, I am trying to paint my roof at the moment so a couple of dry days could be useful (it’s only a quarter done, looks funny).
I`m with Tazar, we`ll gladly take some ofthat wet weather you are having….It`s so dry here in Adelaide….
I think everyone is too scared to spend money as the world is so unsure what the future holds…
Cindy,
Can relate to the brewing and stewing…butterflies are so beautiful fluttering here and there and yep not a bad lifestyle…I think I will flutter here, no over there, or here, or perhaps over there later…
I have not forgotten your kindness to me and will send a few things by snail mail…I am a little distracted at present but this comment is about you not me me me.
You no doubt are busy with the golden brush over your impending exhibits. Back to me I require a deadline to work to as left to my own devices tend to… tomorrow.
I feel the television news and newspapers are depressing the population into a collective downer with lots of black dogs looking over one’s shoulder. I am heartily sick of the doom and gloom recession cash crash…..duh we know and the so called financial gurus certainly do not…..
I find your ulysses uplifting and one of the essences of the north thank you for sharing with us and “May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be at your back, and may the wind not be of cyclone proportions. And may your brewing and stewing have the outcome you desire……I think I would like several of those green frosty thingos I have seen on your site and scull them down one after the other….hey I do hope you do not disappear into the real world as find your view of the country of my youth refreshing and full of a forgotten wonder through your eyes.
Kind regards
You are not wrong about the sharing of the PC - I’m relying on foxtel today to distract them long enough to hop on and send some messages - would you believe I caught Lauren the other night opening up Word, changing the text colour and size and then inserting images…. she may have watched me once a few months ago - amazing little minds !!
We had a bushwalk the other day - it sprinkled on us the whole time we were out, no wet weather gear, no car what was I thinking….another sprinkle today - but thats all you can call it…
My godmother has asked for some help with the steps of her ancestors so I have a new project to keep me away from blogging - its amazing - you still get the rush when its not your own family…did a course and the Genealogy Society the past 2 nights (on holidays from my night job) its amazing how much info they have within their walls - and was totally amazed by the microfiche - created before my time - I’m strictly a computer age gal.
Anyway should head off, hosting a dinner party tomorrow night - Lauren wants to join the ‘girls’ and off to some miniature trains somewhere between grocery shopping with 2 kids - well at least I have something they want to do after to bribe them with.
Cheers, bubbles and butterflies….K
hopefully you are over the brewing and stewing. Getting out there into nature is always a good digression from brewing and stewing. The economic downturn is depressing ask a pensioner. We worked hard saved hard had a neat nest egg started retirement and the egg and the nest has all but diappeared. Good luck with your minature the ones in the pic look great and so do you, gorgeous creature.
Blog again soon.
Where are you? Come back, please, I miss you and Tazar and grotty.
A friend of mine suggested to take a look at your site coz of great stuff you have here. I must say your blog is very interesting.

gorgeous butterflies…and your miniatures are exquisite…hope you’ve found your mojo again!
Do hope that everything is alright Cindy….We are missing your ray of sunshine….
Yea i agree the economy has a influence on the art industry, maybe you should go around other opportunities, like sell art online websites, or maybe just give urself a holiday.
Where’s Cindy???
cindy? your absence is worrying me a lot and i wonder how you are …
Yes Cindy I am a little concerned ……I do hope everything is fine with you if not my thoughts are with you.
Kind regards,
Elizabeth
Hi there,
I am wondering if you are OK. It’s been a while since you were here.Hope all is well.
Cindy,
I will be in Cairns at the end of next month, a quick trip to Karumba to visit an ailing childhood friend.
If you are about would love to meet with you and thank you for the favour you did for me. If you prefer to remain incognito will understand and do hope all is well with your health and family.
Kind Regards,
Elizabeth
