Hi Fran,

Yes the Boob-to-page ratio is rather alarming!

The issue was Nov 17th.

Cheers

Hi Tazar and Diane,

Yep, eyes are all downhill after 40 - things aren't elasticated as they used to be, so focusing is one of the first things to go. Focal length for reading becomes arm's length away!

Tazar, I had some dreaful clothes growing up as well.

Diane, neither - clever software! Bi-focals aren't sounding too bad....

Pretty shot. Clever girl or clever camera? My arms grew too short after 50 so had to resort to glasses for reading but I had to wear them on a string around my neck in the classroom as I needed them to read the kid's work over their shoulder but not for looking at the whole class. It drove me bonkers. I couldn't wait for the day when I could get graduated lenses so I could keep them on my face all day. But then I think my eyes deteriorated faster after that.

Hi Cindy
both me and The Bloke have resorted to those generic glasses (+1) when reading on the verandah in poor light, and are constantly looking up over them to focus on the other stuff. Very daggy!

However, an Optomerist friend told me that it is absolutely inevitable that the eyes go downhill the closer you get to the big 50, no matter how good they have been up until then, so I have resigned myself to peering over the top of the specs..... Very annoying though. And the more tired I am the worse it is. My Grandma continued to sew clothes when almost blind. She was happy. My mother ended up with some dreadful clothes.......

Hi girls,

Yes I did get them tested, about a year ago. Close detailed work (about a foot away) like reading, calligraphy etc, does require the New Specs ( I even got 2 pairs). However, if I look up to talk to someone, look out the window or at the telly, everything is blurred and out of focus - man do I feel dizzy when I do that! Therefore I don't wear them....but the time has come now that I'm going to have to.

I do feel smarter with them on though....

The photo is of one my frangipani trees (Candy Cane) that I planted before we left this time last year. I planted 15 of them.
