Looks like we're a bunch of gecko fans, regardless of the enormous amounts of pooh they leave behind!

Nice to see you here Martha.

i love geckoes - i know them from the time i was in china: in my place i had a family of five and they ate all these nasty moskitoes ; ) chinese geckoes do not bark - bark? - surprised to read that! so sad that i have to live in a gecko-free environment *sigh* i envy you for all the phantastic creatures around you all the time ... it's so boring here now with snow and sleat and icy roads: just the odd mouse underneath the wooden terrace flooring *g*

Oooh I love geckos so much. We had them in our house when we lived in Belize, and I miss their clicking in the night still.
In our bedroom here , I painted a gecko on the wall to remind me of Belize - well, actually it turned out looking more lizard like than geckoish, but it still reminds me. Thanks for the gorgeous photos.
And sorry about your bananas!

I hate the poohs they leave all over the house. The ones we get aren't as transparent as the ones we used to see in P/NG. The imports eat the Australian native ones don't they? Sorry about your banananananananans isn't that a fun word to type. (I stole that line from Lucy's blog)

Fran, these geckoes are EVERYWHERE! They are Asian House geckoes, and bark like crazy all night. Very loudly. Their skin is so transparent you can see a pair of eggs inside a female as if she were made of tracing paper. They lay their eggs in windowsill corners and these tiny guys are the result.

The native geckoes tend to hang around the fence and rocks, and are skinnier and more patterned. It's the 2 mtre long Lace Monitors (goannas) that scare the bejeebies outa me, especially when they march under my washing line!

Poor banana tree. It has pushed up 6 more new shoots though, so we'll see if it can deliver the goods eventually!
