Lonely lychee, what a shame. I wonder what happened to them. Great to see Tazar back and on Blogger too. We have been lucky here with the storms. lots of rain, hail and lightening and wind but no damage except to our mulch which has been redistributed around the garden but luckily not into the street.

Mandy, our big "rat" is the Bandicoot Bandit. He digs massive holes faster than I can fill them. I haven't seen a rat up here yet - I think the pythons take care of those!

Tazar, YAY! TAZAR HAS A BLOG AGAIN!!! Off to visit now.....

OK, I've bitten the bullet and created a new blog, in tune with the tree theme too....

http://fish-n-ships.blogspot.com/

Now will have to start taking photos of all those weird and wonderful collections. I do remember what the bloke looks like, though it is getting a bit hazy. A very kind fisherman has offered to be a " substitute" (such a caring bunch they are in these parts) but I think I'll just hang in there for the real thing......

What a magnificent tree Cindy and only to have one poor lychee left.....

Our fruit trees take a hammering from the bird life here plus the rats....Musn`t forget them....
Thank goodness no snakes otherwise I wouldn`t be venturing out into my garden at all....

Next year you might have to invest in a cover for the tree....Beat them at their own game....

Doda, I don't think the lychee will get to the plate stage - too many hungry beaks about.

Elli, your illustrated journal project has been on my mind - I've been making enquiries about getting Just The Right Journal from various drawing suppliers. I think Doda (hers is the first cheeky comment above) would make another fabulous participant. January sounds like the perfect time.

Elizabeth, I think that Lychee is a doomed fruit...

Tim, so where are you blogging now? Your Pond one is discontinued? We had rain and noise, and not much else - it was SE QLD that copped it hard - it's a disaster area down there. Diane & Elizabeth are the ones that would have the scary stories to tell. Allegedly we're in for thunder storms this evening, just right for watching the Harry Potter/Anaconda movies tonight!

Tazar, I think the tree is in for a permanent rest soon, if the Man gets his way. All I can say is I'm glad it wasn't a mango tree or I would have been devasted by the loss. Everywhere around the streets people are erecting ladders on the back of utes to pluck mangoes from the street trees. Better get in before the bats, who take one bite from one, then one bite from another etc. Remember what your bloke looks like?

Poor lonely lychee. And there you were with your book of 101 Things To Do With 1001 Lychees and all those high expectations cruelly dashed. Maybe the tree just decided to have a rest this year.

I haven't set up another blog yet, so haven't been around much -I didn't want to become one of those disembodied phone chatters, all chatter and no substance. But I just couldn't resist your beachcombing post :)

Argentinian lake = small, unusual, smooth green stone that reminds me of the Latin Lover of the momement. Speaking of which, the bloke has been gone for TWO months. Dashed back to town to pick up a sea container about a month ago, was at the wharf for about half an hour. Hopefully he'll be home soon for a bit longer.

So what happened to the rest? I'm intrigued.

Hope the wild weather up there isn't affecting you too much. They say we're in for a wet and wild weekend down here as well - the tail end of some of the QLD storms apparently.

OOh, I hope it lasts till it's ready to eat.
I have this picture of you with a big fancy table setting and this one lychee on a large plate and you all sitting around to take a share in it!
