Hello everyone!

It's late, I'm covered in scratches and mozzies bites but I've just spent the last 3 hours watching a python devour one of my cockatoo friends.

I was too late to save him sadly, but observed with my camera.

Not sure if you all want to see it though?

Thanks for all your comments, I feel so horrid not having the time to visit your blogs just now. I was in the middle of an asignment when the bandicoot and cocky squawks called me outside tonight.

Yes beak and feather is decimating the cockies up here. I'm sure the farmers are glad, but it is a cruel death. They can treat it with intensive medications, but very expenesive, especially for wild birds. Unfortunately cocky didn't make it through the night at the vet's.

Back to the desk now....

Hi Cindy,
You have been busy and fancy 11 minutes to spare...plenty of time..

The cocky looks as though he has the viral disease PBFD.....The vet can confirm or deny the existence of the virus through a blood test. I think a vaccine is being trialled for this disease and believe is a success. It is a beak and feather disease. In the photograph the cocky appears to have his beak a little overgrown.....I do hope you have some luck.

A celebration at the end of the uni year would be in order....put in the request with your two boys..

He does look a bit scruffy, hope the vet can fix it up.
I once had to pick up a magpie, I put on some leather gloves. But Cockies can chew through wood.
Good photo's in the last post, I like 'painting with light' also.
