Hi Doda, thanks for stopping by.

I do feel more energised with the moon looming so large. It's the sleeping that's the hard bit -so bright it's like daytime.

I have a date with the brushes and canvas tomorrow!

Cheers

Good luck with the Moon tonight Elizabeth!

I need to take a panorama of the night sky showing the milky way for my next assignment (we learnt how to seamlessly "stitch" multiple photos together), so I think I'll need to wait for the moon to wane away to nothing.

Instruction manual? Who needs them I say!

Hi Cindy,
I tried with the moon last night before I read your specs.....will have another go tonight with your specs as a guideline. I do not have a macro lens. I use the Canon 18-55mm lens in the macro mode which I would imagine is not as good as the real deal. I do have a Tamron lens 70-300mm which I will try with the moon tonight. I did have my iso speed at 1600 but the photographs were not very good.
I want to take the moon large like your photographs and then try a little magic with colour......Here's hoping although the cloud and wind is up today. I need to re read the literature with the camera but duh here can not locate the Canon booklet.
The more I look at the lilly photograph...it becomes increasingly beautiful

Kind regards,
Elizabeth

Wow, they are some cool photos. Has the moon inspired any paintings?

Hey Elizabeth,

No special equipment, just a fast shutter speed so no need for a tripod either.

Settings were:

250mm telephoto lense

1/2500 shutter

5.60 Aperture

Lonely lily was shot pre dawn.

White Balance set at 3200K

ISO cranked to 1600

A friend at uni is buying an extension tube for around $45. Currently I use my telephoto for my macros, but it's a very poor substitute (focal length is ridiculous!) A Tamron lense is the alternative. Do you use a macro?

Warm regards,

Cindy
