Really enjoying your bog and envying you your backyard guests, as I sit here looking out at the endless soft Irish rain that really is mundane with no tropical delights to lighten the soggy load:)
What I do to calm the nerves before public speaking is some deep breathing and I always have to remind myself not to rush and that everybody out there is on my side just waiting to enjoy whatever it is I have to say( whether it's true or not) It seems to help me anyway.

Hi Everyone,

Elizabeth,

Yes, I'll try and follow your advice, however, the majority of my audience are in their late teens/early twenties and are all gorgeous!

The lecturer critiques EVERYTHING, - the amount of eye contact you maintain (meaning you must memorise highlights), speed of speech, how still you keep (no shuffling allowed), the inflections, the pauses, the pronunciation of "D's & "T"s especially. It's enough to turn anyone into a huge stress ball, even before you reach the lectern.

Doda,

Hello, how are the Highlands today? I remember our summer trip up to St Andrews - it was such a gorgeous place. It was the sun setting so late at night that really freaked me out at the time!Off to visit your lovely blog in a minute. Hope you don't mind, but I'll add yours to my links.

Kim,

We used to get the black ducks visiting from July onwards every year in Perth. Lovely visitors, but waht a mess they left the pool in. Green wet poohing machines they were. I secretly fed them tidbits, hoping they'd build their nest, but the large cat poplulation put them off I think.

3rd "white" visitor - maybe Michael Jackson?

Wow....you never know who will drop in at your place hey Cindy!

We had a wandering Malamute one day.....looked like a white wolf....

Then the white bunny, that had spent the evening chasing cats up the adjacent street...

Things come in 3's so wonder what our next 'white' visitor would be....

When it comes to birds our variety isnt that great.....however we did have a yearly visit from a pair we named Charli and Kelly (Hi5 names) didnt see them this year which is sad.

Hey , what a cool bird. I love his feet. I would think that watching them would be a great distraction from doing anything!

Cindy,
What terrific visitors you have in your back yard........I have never seen one of those birds.....
Visualize over and over looking from some other angle at yourself standing in front of an audience and speaking.......perhaps looking down from the ceiling......practice many times
and if you are getting a little nervous of the audience slowly take off their clothes in your head and smile......he he I kid you not works for me....
Kindest regards,
Elizabeth
