Bright bits in a dull day
It’s been overcast, drizzly and HOT. Steamy like a Costa Rican jungle. Not that I’ve ever been in a Costa Rican jungle, but I almost feel as if I need a machete to cut through the air, it’s so thick.
My Mountain is in there somewhere….
Uni today was using cameras in different ways. I’ve used my telephoto lens as a macro lens for these luscious red berries. Like bunches of miniature pomegranates.
“Spring” in the tropics has unleashed all manner of triffid-like growth with berries and blooms.
My lecturer told me today that he saw my photo in the weekend newspaper - all news to me as I didn’t bother with the papers this weekend. I did hunt a copy down this afternoon.
The competition has now closed, and judging begins. No cash prizes, but a chance to have your work printed in some limited edition posters.
Back now to the drudgery of homework…..

Again WOW - I know its hard to get a pic of butterflies coz when they stop flying the buggers close their wings…..
I remember all this after an hour up at Kuranda Butterfly place chasing them with my camera, Lauren spent that hour with her arms out waiting for one to land on her orange/red tshirt…grandma had a few land on her boring top!
Congratulations on the photo… good stuff…..(so articulate I am stuff!!)….the minature red berries look like cherry guarvas which I loved to eat but do not eat these in case they are some deadly poisionous red berry……The cockatoos look so joyful…….wait for the wet….you are now entering the season of the north when the crazies take over…..when the rains come it is not too bad and October and early November if the rains have not hit can be quite taxing……the sea looks good enough to take a dip but DON’T…..we used to go to Kamerunga or the Barron River, Crystal Cascades or the outer Reef…..but these days do not know if the crocs are inhabiting the fresh water streams….??Full of good cheer aren’t I…
Thank you so much for visiting was getting a little paranoid as the site is getting around fifteen thousand silent hits a day mainly from America and I do not know why….have been scrutinising my headings and words in case have typed in something that has set this off as am a little mystified.
Because of the heavy traffic allowed Google to put on some simple ads, dollar signs danced before my eyes….wait for it ……………………………………………………………………..and to date have made………

whoever said blogging was a waste of time…..it makes money…………..
Kind Regards,

Hi girls,
Kim, yes they are a right bugger those Ulysses butterflies! I find they do tend to get out and about on dull days, which is an added obstacle for a good photograph. They like the blue pegs on the clothesline as well. Not as pretty a photo as a flower background though!
Elizabeth, just visited your blog - you brave woman, what a trauma to got through. I don’t know how you and Rose did it, your inner strength must be awesome.
Back here in mundane Cairns, the humidity was staggering today - hit me like a big wet wall - around 80% I think.
Jeff is back from New Zealand tonight, so at least he’ll be glad of the balmy nights again.
With regards to blog visits, I used to check my stats daily, but don’t care now. The really amusing thing is the “search engine term” people use to find your blog - some really odd requests out there!

Welcome again to far nth Qld. be prepared for the worst then you wont be surprised!
Crank up the air-con, weve been sleeping with the door open and enjoying the natuaral cool night air (probably 25 degress)

Believe me, Air Con has been well and truly cranked lately……
Humidity is when you get out of the car and your sunglasses fog up in .3 of a second!
