Hi guys, thanks for your lovely comments.

Daisy, you lucky girl going to Comic Con - I was a big fan of Jim Balent's work when was with DC (Catwoman). Not sure where he is now.

With regards to the coloured background, there was no other way to show up the dandelions seeds. I had to lay down a mask of gesso under the watercolour first as well. Pastel paper did the job well.

Keith, pop those eyeballs back in! I cringe when I look at the kingfishers - what with the snake and all. But I had to work in the BIG theme somehow, and that was the best I could do. Ironically, all pieces for this exhibit must be 8" x 10" or under.

The birds are surprisingly quick to do. I took a few photos along the way, so may put them up in a post.

Vanessa, I hate that I love the detail. I see other people so loose and fresh with brushstrokes, and I dabble dabble away with a tiny brush. I'm trying to change that with the painting course I just started today. Even though I have all good intentions, I end up dabbling detail again....

I am feeling a bit weary today, not sure if I can stay up to watch the Opening ceremony - won't finish until 2am.

Hello everyone, thanks so much for stopping by.

Margie! You made it to the new blog - glad you did! I saw the morning temp in Perth the other morning - brrrrr 2 measly degrees. I must admit that I'm enjoying the 17 deg minimums, and so is my power bill! It's the 27 C Maximums that are just WRONG in winter!

Hi Janie, saw your lovely B & W illos of dandelions as well - great stuff!

Hi Indigene, yes, the location up here is such an inspiration, but having a snake eyeball you when you're getting in the car can be quite unnerving!

Thanks Katie, I enjoyed your Puffer fish AND poem illo - am liking your sea theme that's happening.
