Everything is bizarre up here, I have to get used to it.

My German riding teacher (from a few posts back) took no prisoners when it came to spiders. One night we were riding in the indoor arena when a huge hairy thing dropped from the rafters down the front of her top whilst she was mid canter. Without missing a hoofbeat, she clenched a leather gloved fist and crushed the 8 legged beast against her boobs.

Part German, part Amazon.

I've got a few spiders taken up residence in my car. Maybe that's why the girls don't like driving in it. But they are only tiny little daddy long legs and the like. I've never seen such a bizarre looking one as that. They must be warm weather spiders?

Spiders are ok, as long as they aren't INSIDE your car window.....as happened to me recently....

Left the door open for a bit after school while kids were still on playground. By the time we all got in, James yelled SPIDER and there it was, merrily crawling around on the inside of drivers window.....lucky I wasnt driving !!!!

Now snakes......they worry me the most....not sure why....but when we go to the zoo - it is the quickest viewed exhibit by the Hosky's!!

Hey Doug,

I was recently speaking to The Owl Man from Melbourne, who told me that Owls are some of the "dumbest" of all the bird species. Good eyesight, good hearing yes. Brains, unfortunately not, so "Wise Old Owl" really just applies to their "look".

I think the spider venom has a liquifying agent in it, so that they can come back and "drink" their victims at a later date.

As I don't have a macro lense, I try and take all the close up shots with the telephoto lense to really get a great depth of field. My focal length is obviously an issue (stepping back from the spiders was OK by me). Switching to Manual Focus is required as well.

G'day,
It's amazing that birds are too stupid to work out that they are looking at themselves.
Good photos of the spider, we get them types here also. Maybe their venom has a preservative also.
