Illustration Friday - Enough

enough.jpg

Made it by the skin of my teeth again! So much going on right now- including the exhibition Official Opening at Kickarts tonight. I can feel the butterflies already - I’ll be right once I have a glass of bubbles in my hand.

My submission this week to Illustration Friday was inspired by a couple of things that sit in my Naturalist’s Collection, and also by the memories of giving birth. “Enough already!” went hand in hand with all that pushing!

nest-and-egg.jpg

The nest is from our old hibiscus tree in Perth, sadly fallen to the ground when we did a hard prune back. The Emu egg is from a Royal Show exhibitor who runs an emu farm. Imagine the size of the basket used to collect the eggs on that farm!

Hi Girls, thanks for stopping by.

Mangosteen, your stuff is just wonderful, I really loved your swimming turtle piece, such serene colours. Your stamps are really great - hope there’s no blood on those sharp tools!

Mandy, Emus used to run wild at Hubby’s old golf course- man could they run! Bit scary at that size though.

I’m starting to get a bit nervous now, off to shower and get all glammed up in a minute. I may get my knee high boots out of hibernation for the event - almost cold enough to wear them!

This is my first visit to your blog. Thanks for stopping by mine!
I love this picture. I will be back to see more. I love to paint/draw birds, and love to see other peoples work. Your artwork is gorgeous! Are those coloured pencils you use or watercolour pencils?

Great Friday sketch, I enjoyed the website too. Hope the exhibition went well. Have you got art for sale there? If so I hope you made millions. By the way did you know that one slice of cheesecake is worth 17 weight watcher points. That is my whole day’s allowance, its not fair. Anyway going to go over points today as we’re off to our local Chinese for dinner as my daughter is here from Sydney for work this weekend.

    Hi Doda & Diane,

Doda, thanks for dropping by - I’m a great fan of your work as well, your brooches are wonderful! Those Owls are calling me!

They are French watercolour pencils, given to me by my art teacher in Year 11 (when I was 16 and she was a nun!). They still work well - quite creamy in texture. I’m ashamed to say they are not worn down at all, after all these years. Must work on fixing that.

Diane, It wasn’t my exhibition, I just helped put the installation together. I’ll upload some pics in a minute.

Hope the Chinese was yummy - any deep fried ice cream?
