Just love your blog I will enjoy going through your two years - you live in SUCH a different place than the United States - amazing photos of the plants and animals. I moved to a warmer (if not more exotic) climate - from Michigan to North Carolina. It is only the beginning of June and it reached 91 yesterday. Today is a cool 83. ha

Hi Mandy,

Hope things are getting a bit easrier for you every day. Matt sounds like he enjoyed his birthday wishes from everyone.

You know, I asked Jeff the same question on Sunday - where can we get a bird bath? I put out a little stainless steel water bowl for the cockies to drink from (now that it's dry season), and it's emptied in no time.

Birdbath hunting season now open!

Cheers

My god what fantastic shots....I really need to get myself a good camera...lol
I miss the birds we used to get in the garden...I had a birdbath and the rosellas used to come evry morning without fail to have their morning dip.....That was until my darling cat decided to get a drink from the birdbath and it toppled over and broke.....
Note to self, "get new bird bath".....

Diane, I saw that show on the Keas! I think it was Attenborough, wasn't it? Those naughty birds were even rolling rocks onto people under slopes at the ski resort. Very, very smart.

Sunbirds are tiny. Being nectar drinkers, I don't think they have a lot of strength in their beaks. The only damage is the trail of runny droppings where it sits all day talking to itself. It really is an OCD bird.

Now that we are on the East coast, NZ looks very inviting....

Cheers

Hey Tazar, I got my SLR for a birthday pressie, and even though we couldn't eat for 6 weeks afterwards, it was worth it!

The above sunbird shots are a mix of old "point & shoot" camera and the SLR. I bet you can tell which is which. If you do go for a SLR, go for the Canon, I had to return my Nikon after a few days.

When does the bloke get back?

Fabulous shots, Cindy. You are lucky the bird doesn't eat the rubber from the windows. There is a bird in NZ, I think it's called a Kea, it eats everything off the car when you leave your car in a car park and go for a walk you can return to find, rubber, door trims, aerials and even rear vision mirrors chewed off.

You know, the bloke offered to get me an SLR for my birthday and I said NO? Can you believe it? So many other pressing bills at the moment I just can't justify it. Both our birthdays come in June but we are always broke at that time and defer prezzies until October, a time when $$ materialises.

Lovely sunbird, we don't have them here, I don't think.

I am a devoted puppy mum, but although Oscar the Wonder Dog loves water and swimming, he absolutely hates being hosed, off so the end of the swimming day is always a bit of a struggle.
